Dear ,
November was again full of beautiful experiences and insights. A very special one I want to share with you.
Last weekend, there was heavy snowfall for 12 hours during the night – up to 50 cm. From one day to the other, the world turned into a magical winter wonderland which always connects me to precious memories of my childhood and the pre-Christmas time.
What made it less magical for many people in Bulgaria was that with the heavy snowfall came a power cut. For nearly 48 hours we were without electricity. In many regions even the internet broke down for 2 days.
Luckily my dear husband had provided for these situations by buying a generator. We have it for nearly two years but never really needed it so badly before. The only issue was the risk of running out of fuel as we only had little in stock. And there was no chance getting anywhere for supplies as all the roads were blocked.
We decided to use our generator wisely. Only during the hours we really needed it, to cook, to charge batteries, to heat up water for tea, coffee and our indispensable hot water bottles which helped to keep us warm in the times between and during the night. And of course, it was time for a lot of candles.
These 2 days were days of slowing down to the essential. And they brought back a distant memory of how different life was before the internet and the constant need and urge to be connected.
I felt my whole body slowing down and relaxing. Having been super busy during the last weeks with preparing my travel, a seminar, a training, and the workshops, it felt like someone clapping their hands in front of my nose saying: “Oh, relax, just breathe, it’s all right!”
In the evening my husband and I sat together and toasted with the rest of our last bottle of red wine. And we shared that feeling of gratitude about being together and how good our life is in this very moment.
Yesterday did not matter and tomorrow would bring new solutions.
And I was thinking of how much we all would need such a power cut every now and then. Something that gently shakes us whispering: “Oh, just look at this very moment! It is the only thing you can really handle. Forget about yesterday and let tomorrow find its own solution.”
How are you in this very moment? You might be happy, or you might be in pain. But who tells us that it might not be the other way around tomorrow?
So, we might as well just stay with what is and listen. I am sure that, if we surrender and we listen to this very moment, it is holding precious insights for all of us.
I am wishing you a month of December where every single day – for at least a bit – you may listen to the present moment.
Thinking about how I can support you in this, the tradition of the advent calendar came to my mind, and I have created a Christmas gift for you. An “advent calendar” with one picture each day and a special wish from me to you. I hope you like it.
You can find it on my telegram channel and in my FB group – so if you are not already there you might join. It starts on December 1st and will end on the 24th.
In the spirit of love and reconciliation
