Dear ,
Last week, I moved my workspace back to my "summer office," a room that's too cold to work in during the winter. Of course, this involved looking through folders and reorganizing documents.
A folder slipped out of my hand, and I found a piece of paper that I had always thought about but could never find. They were reflections that I wrote down on a flight from Cyprus to Germany almost 33 years ago. I was returning from a short vacation that was supposed to help me move on from a disappointment. It was only a few days, but I experienced a deep connection with life, nature, and myself, resulting in the following
10 Golden Rules of Life
1) Time is absolutely relative! There is nothing that couldn't just as easily happen tomorrow. Some things might make even more sense the next day.
2) Don't decide anything until a day has passed and never choose a path because it seems to be the easier one.
3) Before you say something, mull over it – but then stand by what you said.
4) Don't judge anyone before you've been in their shoes! First, try to understand, because every behavior has its origin somewhere.
5) Believe in your dreams and don't give up on them! Be ready to risk everything for them!
6) Accept yourself as you are! If you can't, try to understand why. Only if it's really necessary – change.
7) Don't let a day go by without making a person happy or at least telling someone you love them. This person can just as well be you.
8) Try to do everything you do consciously and try to see yourself through the eyes of others.
9) Don't let the evening come and there will still be someone somewhere to ask for forgiveness or to forgive.
10) Never forget that this day could be your last and be grateful for every new day that is given to you.

Today, 32 ½ years later, I can still agree with every “rule”. The only change I might make is to find another word for “forgiveness” as I learned that it is understood and received in different ways. You might watch my short video about “Forgiveness is the absence of blame” in regard.
For the month of May I wish you warmth, sunshine, and time for yourself.
In the spirit of love and reconciliation
